The Empress is the embodiment of womanhood, representing the Great Mother. She is teacher, lover, friend,
covering all aspects of female strength and beauty.
From the purity of the High Priestess we move naturally onwards to the Empress, third card in the major arcana,
who holds the power to steadily and determinedly rebuild, renew, nurture and nourish.
She has been called the ‘Star-crowned Empress – the Morning Star’.
This is a reference to the Goddess Venus, who, apart from her more usual realm of love,
is also a deity associated with fruitfulness and harvest.
This card points to fertility, abundance, material and domestic comfort, security and protection.
She may indicate pregnancy, and childbirth, particularliy if the ace or three of cups are present. Reversed: There may be problems in pregnancy and with fertility
We all have male and female energy within us and The Empress reminds us of the strength of womanhood counter-balancing the energy and power of the male.
Allowing this energy to flow between the two powers creates more harmony in our lives.
Her appearance urges us to learn to give without making demands or setting conditions. This in turn,
will bring to us happiness and Unconditional Love
