Study of Tarot Cards

There are many theories as to why Tarot Readings prove so accurate. Some say they are a tool to bring out the natural clairvoyance that is already present in the Reader; others argue that they are in themselves a divine system.

If you are using a new deck of cards and have purified and energised them you are now ready to begin familiarising yourself with your deck. Choose a place and time where you know you can be peaceful and avoid distractions. Wear comfortable clothing. When sitting do not cross your legs, as this will interfere with your body’s energy flow.

I personally like to light candles, burn incense sticks and have particular ornaments or crystals on my table. The most important thing is that you are relaxed and happy, so select items which evoke feelings of mysticism and calm within you.
Start by simply handling the cards. Shuffle them, focusing your mind on a question (if it helps, say it out loud) and when you feel drawn to a particular card, take it from the deck. Look at the images, absorbing intricate details and see what sort of ideas they bring to mind.

‘Feel’ the picture and allow your mind to become part of the scene. Don't worry at this stage what the card is supposed to mean - be aware of the thoughts that arise. Ask your ‘inner self’ if there is anything you need to learn or to become aware of. What answers do you feel are being given to you?

Each of the cards of the Tarot has a meaning, covered in the sections on Major and Minor Arcana. You can refer to these later.

A lot of good Tarot readers keep a writing pad and pen nearby so that they can make notes of their thoughts and feelings when they have finished with each card. It would be a good idea to commence this straight away.

To get the best from a reading, be clear on your questions at the start

When receiving a reading it sometimes occurs that the answer given seems more applicable to another area of your life. The Reader has brought through information on a different subject. Do not take this as a bad sign, but a good one in that you have been provided with information that may prove useful at a later stage in your life.

The cards have an uncanny knack of tuning into your situation whether you ask about it specifically or not.

If you keep regular notes, you will find it interesting to look back and see how accurate your observations (readings) were.

When you are ready and if you desire, continue with other cards. I would recommend that you do not take more than two initially, as you wish to become as familiar with each card as you can.

Each person learns at a difference pace, just remain comfortable, at ease and remember it should be enjoyable, exciting and fun!!

As your confidence and knowledge of the meaning of the Tarot grows, you will be aware that your Psychic mind is also developing, your intuition refining, and your awareness becoming more astute.
