Mantras
A mantra is a syllable or phrase that is repeated over and over again. The use of mantras derives from Hinduism,
the literal meaning being "to set free from the mind."
The Sanskrit word 'man' which means 'to think', can also
mean divine speech, a tool of the mind and the language of spiritual physiology.
Chanting or saying any word produces an actual physical vibration in the body. Over time, if we know what the effect of
that vibration is, then the word may come to have meaning associated with the effect of saying that vibration or word.
In the same manner of saying an affirmation to ourselves, chanting a mantra,
can bring about positive effect. We may use a mantra for healing, love, success, happiness. By releasing the blocks to truly believing that we are able to bring about
good things in our lives, is all that is required to realise our full potential in whatever path we take.
When we are born we do not have inhibitions, rules and pre-conceived ideas. Family and cultural
conditions tell us what we can and cannot achieve or aspire to. We become accustomed to thinking in parameters.
How many of us were told that 'money cannot bring happiness' 'no-one will love you unless.......' 'you are
stupid if you believe that you can .....' and so on. If we are constantly reprimanded or restricted then in general,
we come to accept this as our 'norm' in life. Whereas someone constantly told and re-affirmed that they are special,
lovely, and are praised for their actions and achievements, mature believing that they can achieve their goals and deserve
to be loved.
We are able to recondition our thoughts. Saying and believing daily affirmations related to our desires and dreams,
will bring about change to our positive mental attitude. When our mind and bodies are vibrating on levels which connect
to the Universal cosmos, we will become aware that we are at one with everything and that everything is available to us.
Using a mantra when meditating will enhance this ability, and connect us to a higher state of awareness
